Christian Churches Collaborating for Change, Inc.( known as 4Cs),  is composed of 9 member churches from the Austin area. We collaborate, first with God to effectively Minister and Serve those affected by the Criminal Justice System both inside and outside of prison/jail walls.

Our History

October 25, 2011

The first meeting was held at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on October 25, 2011 .

Topics of Discussion included:

    • Why are we here:
      1. Because God said “Go Ye”…
      2. Jesus said “Love thy Neighbor as thou self
      3. There is a vision and burning to fill in the blank spaces
      4. There is no Church presence at the State Capitol
      5. Meet needs of those re-entering, especially as we see them relocating to East Austin
      6. Re-entering former inmates see more of the “world view” than “God’s view”
      7. Provide opportunities for formerly incarcerated to stay together and in communication
      8. Implement Services/Programs that are successful in assisting this population in various stages within the Criminal Justice arena (prevention, incarceration and re-entry)

    • Needs Identified:
      1. Financial stability
      2. Education/Information to Church Congregations
      3. Host City-Wide Criminal Justice Workshops
      4. Identify Employers who hire those with a “criminal background”
      5. Teach formerly incarcerated individuals & families on successful re-entry (job readiness, dress for success)
      6. Address of needs of Men vs Women and the differences

On November 15, 2011- The Name Christian Churches Collaborating For Change (4C’s) was adopted.

January 12, 2012

On January 12, 2012 our First Officers were elected:

  • President – Sis. Patt Jackson
  • Vice-President – Rev. Ronn Gibson
  • 1st Vice-President – Sis. Barbara Lovings-Horton
  • Secretary – Sis. January Roberts – upon her approval (she later agreed)
  • Assistant Secretary – Sis. Charlene Morris
  • Treasurer – Sis. Patricia Jennings – upon  her approval (she later agreed)
  • Resource Coordinator – Sis. Bernadette Urdy
  • Chaplain – Rev. Richard Archer

March 4, 2013 –  Christian Churches Collaborating For Change (4c’s) was recognized by State of Texas and granted applicable exemptions

September 04, 2014- Christian Churches Collaborating For Change (4c’s) was granted 501(c)3 status by Federal Government
